WUSC/Azuansi Farm Institute Supports Refugees through Poultry Project.

By GRB | 15 September 2026

On 7th September 2026, WUSC/Azuansi Farm Institute took another important step toward promoting sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment among refugees at the Krisan Refugee Camp by supporting beneficiaries with 500 fowls under a poultry farming initiative.

The support forms part of an ongoing poultry project aimed at providing refugees with practical opportunities to develop their poultry farming skills, generate income, and improve their economic self-reliance. Prior to the arrival of the birds, selected existing poultry houses at the camp were renovated to provide suitable facilities for the project.

The presentation of the 500 fowls at the Krisan Refugee Camp was received on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Refugee Board, Hon. Nana Asare Bediako, by the Regional Coordinator and Management of the Camp.

A total of 85 selected refugee groups and beneficiaries participating in the programme were brought together to jointly care for and manage the birds until they mature. The beneficiaries will receive guidance and support on proper feeding, management, and general care of the birds throughout the project. The initiative is expected to provide the participating refugees with practical experience in poultry farming while creating opportunities for income generation and sustainable livelihoods.

The Executive Secretary of the Ghana Refugee Board, Hon. Nana Asare Bediako, and Management of the Ghana Refugee Board commend WUSC/Azuansi Farm Institute for its continued commitment to supporting refugees through practical livelihood interventions. The initiative is a valuable contribution toward empowering refugees with sustainable livelihood opportunities, enhancing self-reliance, and improving their capacity to generate income. The Board appreciates the continued partnership and support of WUSC/Azuansi Farm Institute in creating meaningful opportunities that contribute to the socio-economic well-being and resilience of refugees.
